This Sunny Weather Math: Addition and Subtraction within 200 resource includes:
Ice Cream Scoop Stack Up– 2 differentiated levels where students add up the scoops and write the sum in the ice cream cone.
Next…
Ice Cream Sum-it-Up Station– (This would be best to laminate on cardstock ahead of time. Multiple copies of the ice cream scoops are needed.) There are sums in each ice cream cone, then students will need to come up with all the ways to make that sum using the digits on the scoops.
For example, if the cone says “20,” a student can use (2) scoops of 10, or (4) scoops of 5, etc.
*An extension activity is provided with this station. The extension activity can be used to cut and paste on a piece of paper OR laminated.
And then we have…
Sunny Weather Subtraction– Differentiated versions with subtraction and subtraction with regrouping word problems. There is also a recording sheet and answer key provided.
Thirdly….
Flip-Flop: What’s the question? – Students will be given a number. Then, they will have to come up with a word problem that has that certain number as the final answer.
Finally…
Lemonade Math– Comes with a teacher example page. Students will roll the dice and enter the numbers. Add the digits to put the final answer in the lemonade cup. GT Extension: Students can also roll the dice and multiply the digits as well.
There are multiple ways to incorporate each activity into your classroom. The options are endless!
