Description

Make place value practice exciting, interactive, and competitive with this Place Value WAR Partner Game for 3rd–5th Grade! This engaging math resource gives students repeated practice with essential place value concepts while playing a familiar card-game-style activity with a partner.

Students flip over cards representing numbers in a variety of forms and determine which card has the greatest value. The player with the greater number wins the round and keeps the cards! The different representations encourage students to think beyond simply reading a standard-form number—they must apply their understanding of place value, number forms, and base-ten representations to compare values correctly.

The game cards include numbers represented in standard form, word form, expanded form, and base-ten block models, giving students meaningful practice moving between multiple representations of numbers. Numbers extend into the ten-thousands, making the resource useful for differentiating across 3rd–5th grade place value skills.

A student recording sheet allows students to document the winner of each round or write equations using <, >, and = to compare the numbers.
