National Dot Day / SEL Picture book The Dot is celebrated September 15th= National Dot Day!
This is a FUN day to celebrate, and the activities that I have planned are aligned with state standards and Common Core standards as well!
** Within this National Dot Day/ SEL Picture book The Dot product you will find:
- A teacher direction page that gives the answer to the first writing prompt, explains some of the art activities, and gives other optional suggestions for National Dot Day.
- An opportunity for students to write to two different prompts using their creative thinking skills, and their higher-level thinking skills.
- 8 task cards that can be used independently, in partners, in small groups, or whole group. Within these task cards students will be given the opportunity to answer questions by reflecting back on the text, comprehension questions, analyze how the character changed from the beginning of the story to the end, try to come up with the theme or message of the story, list character traits of the main character, come up with a different ending to the story, and more!
- There are seven different optional art activities that you can incorporate with your students. These activities are differentiated for students of all ages. (Literally Kindergarten through high school. These art activities could be put in stations, or the teacher can choose one or two to do with the class.
- Some supplies that may come in handy if you choose to do certain art activities or decorate your classroom are on a slide as well.
